The 100 top hospitals in 2024, per Fortune

Share

Fortune on April 16 named its top 100 hospitals in the U.S. in collaboration with PINC AI, a healthcare intelligence platform.

The “Fortune/PINC AI Top Hospital List” is based on an analysis of Medicare data, including clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience and financial health. Researchers from PINC AI analyzed data from 2,601 acute-care, nonfederal U.S. hospitals in small, medium and large community hospitals, and teaching and major teaching hospitals. The analysis included a survey-based measure to capture the hospital’s contribution to health and health equity in its community, an April 16 joint news release from Fortune and PINC AI said.

The top hospitals outperformed their peers in all 10 key performance indicators. If all hospitals performed like the top 100 hospitals, more than 350,000 additional patients would be saved, more than 607,000 individuals would not have in-hospital complications and more than 16,6000 patients would not have 30-day readmissions. All of these outcomes could amount to more than $17.6 billion in savings, according to the release. Read more about the methodology here.
